I was disappointed in the write to learn activity ONLY because we didn't get to the second part. I wanted to know why people thought that you couldn't become a good teacher even though you had never tried. This activity made me question my criteria for the excellent teacher.

I agree Patti - I wanted to see the other side of what we believe excellent teaching to be about. It seemed as if most of us were more inclined to believe excellent teaching came out of much more than time and attention. I loved the way this activity showed the variations in how we interpret the question.
I think Sherrie mentioned that most of us felt that an excellent teacher has that certain heart for teaching, something intrinsic that is above and beyond all book learning. That I am in agreement with. I think we have all had teachers that knew their subject but couldn't communicate their ideas so that students could understand.
I agree, Sue. It never occurred to me to focus on the word excellent. I think the thing I value most in this class is the discussions generated by the activities. So many different peerspectives!(spelling intentional)
