Linda's presentation

Why didn't I ever have an exciting teacher like Linda? We just read poetry and even though I loved it I remember it as being kind of dull and boring (the way it was presented) I love the music and the readings on tape! Lets face it, music makes anything better. I know students would agree. Her passion for poetry is inspiring. Now I really want to incorporate more poetry into my art room!

Oh I agree about the music! I forgot to put that in my post! Thanks for reminding me Jackie!

Yes,that is something I didn't say before in my post. The whole aspect of using song lyrics to show kids poetry can be exciting and they are already into it, maybe without even knowing it. I liked Don's idea too. We can use lyrics both ways: To introduce new poems (from old songs they don't know) as well as have them bring in appropriate lyrics to connect them to their own lives and loves.

I think it is her passion that is powerful, which lead to her expertise. I imagine your passion for art is clear to your little guys too, Jackie. Loving it is always the key (I think).
